First Lady Fashion

They say that behind every great man is a great woman. As we’ve watched the elegant Michelle Obama’s every move, from her husband’s triumphant election to his celebrated inauguration, it is clear that the First Lady stands tall and proud, beside President Obama. And, as a woman whose choices and words are constantly under scrutiny, Mrs. Obama has proven to be a spectacular role model, as a family woman, a career woman, and most importantly, as a frugal fashionista who never skimps on style. We’ve seen the lovely First Lady in an array of ensembles: the red and black Narciso Rodriguez election night dress; the White House Black Market dress seen on The View; the fabulous J. Crew yellow print shell/cardigan combo and white high-waisted skirt; and, most recently, the stunning Jason Wu cocktail number Mrs. Obama donned as she emerged from Air Force One in Europe yesterday.
Seen above, the President and First Lady met with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife Sarah Brown. While the G-20 summit meeting was on the agenda for President Obama, Mrs. Obama took the opportunity to visit Maggie’s, a cancer care center erected by Sarah Brown herself. The ladies looked classic and sophisticated, perfectly appropriate for the time and place.

The Obamas are scheduled to meet the Queen of England later today, and all fashion lovers’ eyes have fallen on Mrs. Obama. Will she bare her arms, as the original Fashionable First Lady Jackie Kennedy did? Or will she don previously publicized attire to promote the more humble consumer attitude? No one can be sure until she emerges at Buckingham Palace, but we’re positive she won’t disappoint!
